From Haneda Airport to Frankfurt Airport by ANA. From Frankfurt to London Heathrow Airport by Lufthansa Airlines. Last time it was the Beatles in Liverpool and fashion in London. This time I look at design and art in London.

羽田空港からANAでフランクフルト空港。フランクフルトからルフトハンザ航空でロンドン・ヒースロー空港へ。20年ぶりくらいのロンドン。前回はリバプールのビートルズとロンドンのファッション。今回はロンドンのデザインとアート。

来た、デザインミュージアム！

How good is good design? There is an exhibit to feeling.

良いデザインはどう良いのか、感じるための展示。

Design reaches out to social issues as well as commercial ones.

デザインは商業的な問題だけでなく、社会課題にもリーチする。

There are so many different nuanced words in English. RIDICULOUS, AMUSING, QUAINT, CHARMING, ROMANTIC, BEAUTIFUL..

英語にもいろんなニュアンスの単語がある。滑稽、面白い、趣がある、魅力的、ロマンチック、美しい…。

MAKER, USER, DESIGNER, three words loop around the exhibition.

All the cafes are good, so I have more tea time. Not tea, but coffee.

どのカフェも美味しそうだし、実際美味しいので、お茶の時間が増える。紅茶じゃなくてコーヒーだけど。

The V&A Museum is a quaint building in itself. The lighting contrast is clear.

V&Aミュージアムは建物自体に趣がある。光のコントラストもはっきりしている。

The dark walls make the gold shine more brightly.

ダークな壁がゴールドをより輝かせてる。

Perhaps it is the color of the building, but even outdoors, one senses a contrast in light.

建物の色なのか、屋外でさえ、光のコントラストを感じる。

Literally separate upper and lower case letters by size.

文字通り、大文字と小文字を大きさで分けて書いてる。

One means of transportation, the London Underground.

移動手段のひとつは地下鉄。

The station names are all cool.

駅名すらかっこいい。

There are several CONRAN SHOPs in London.

ロンドンはコンランショップがいくつもある。

While keeping the store open, they ware working on the display. Is the performance itself also a display?

店を開けたままディスプレイを作ってるのは斬新だ。絵を描くのもディスプレイと考えれば良いのかも。

If it were in Japan, We would do it at night.

日本ならきっと夜やるよね。

I rode a lot of shared bicycles this time. By the way, in the back is the Google building.

今回はたくさんシェアサイクル乗りまくった。奥のビルはグーグルみたい。

Contrast between the historic building and modern select stores! Too fashionable!

歴史を感じる建物とモダンなセレクトショップの組み合わせずるい！

Perhaps it is because the building itself has high ceilings as standard, but it is pleasant.

建物自体の天井が基本高いからかもだが、どこもほんと気持ちいい。

Multiple draft beers, that’s nice.

I don’t know why I like this word.

There seems to be a textual rule.

なんとなく、こういうときはこう書くみたいのがありそう。

Often you will see flower shop on the street.

ちょいちょい道端で花屋をみかける。

A child writes, but sometimes the purpose is a social issue. Not often seen in Japan.

子どもたちが描いたらしいが、よくよく読むとメッセージ性があった。日本ではみかけたことがないのでドキッとする。

There are many big beautiful parks in London. People in every park, and they all seem to be pleasant.

ロンドンにはたくさんの大きな美しい公園がある。どの公園もたくさんの人がいて、みんな気持ち良さそう。

During my stay, I visited many museums and art galleries.

滞在中、たくさんの美術館や博物館に行った。

The Wellcome Medical Museum in London is unique in its exhibits and comfortable.

ロンドンのウエルカム医療博物館は展示がユニークで居心地も良い。

I love it.

これすき。

The restaurant at the Medical Museum had a healthy menu. It was very tasty. Then I thought. I don’t have to force myself to eat Western food while traveling abroad.

レストランのヘルシーメニューがとても美味しくて、食べてて思ったんだけど、なにも旅行中の間ずっと洋食を食べる必要ないなって。野菜をたべればいいなって。
